First things first. How much does this cost?

That’s actually up to you. I don’t want finances to keep anyone from using this formula if they need to lose weight. So if you can’t afford to pay anything, there's no charge. However, if you’re in good shape financially and you benefit greatly from the plan, then I’d just ask that you pay what it was worth to you. For some of you that may be $100. and for some of you it may be $10,000. I’ll let you decide how valuable it's been. No pressure…unless your name is Oprah. Come on girl, give me a call and let’s get that last 60 off once and for all.

Are you saying that a hamburger is equal to an apple when it comes to nutrition?

No. I'd much rather the health benefits from a hamburger made with lean grass fed beef, organic vegetables and cheese and a nice bread that is preservative free. A hamburger made the right way is actually very nutritious with healthy amounts of fat, protein and carbs. The problem comes when you eat one that weighs 2 pounds. I'd much rather you eat a nice 10 ounce (total weight) hamburger than a 10 ounce apple.

Can I still drink alcohol while on the Fat Math Formula?

Yes. Should you though? Well, in my experience, drinking alcohol does tend to make staying to a set plan a little harder. The problem with the Fat Math Formula is that after being on the plan for a month or so, you'll start to get pretty confident that if you fall off the schedule for a day or two, that it's easy to catch back up. While that is true, the discipline to only have a certain number of ounces of food for dinner can easily go out the window after a couple of 10% Belgian Tripels. I would probably recommend red wine instead of beer, given the choice. Two or three beers is quite a bit of liquid. You're likely going to have to wake up to pee at least once, so you may not sleep as well if you just had a glass of wine instead.

Can I still eat ice cream while on the Fat Math Formula?

Absolutely. My favorite is cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, vanilla, pralines and cream, peanut butter and chocolate, and butter pecan. If your plan says that you can have 18 ounces for dinner, then by all means save 6 of those ounces for some ice cream. Could you eat all 18 ounces in just ice cream? Technically yes, but I would hope you would choose a fairly balanced diet. The beauty of the Fat Math Formula is that what and how often you eat is left up to you.

Isn't this just based on portion control?

That's exactly what it's based on. You're not overweight because of a calorie intake problem, you're overweight because you've had an indulgence / portion control problem. The Fat Math Formula reigns in excessive eating and provides a very specific daily formula to determine the portion size of your last meal of the day.

Which scales should I use?

I like these two linked below. They're not expensive and have proven accurate. I like that this body composition scale displays body fat %, water %, bonemass and BMI all on the same screen.

Conair Body Analysis Glass Bathroom Scale

Greater Goods Digital Kitchen Scale

Can I drink coffee while following the Fat Math Formula?

Please do. I'd rather weigh 100 pounds more than I do than give up coffee. Adding cream and real sugar is fine too.

Should I drink diet sodas and use artificial sweetener in my coffee?

Absolutely not. Your body (especially your brain) needs natural sugar (carbs) here and there. What your body doesn't need are artificial sweeteners that will leave certain endocrine and hormone disrupting chemicals in your body for the next 50 years. I'd rather you drink straight vodka than a Diet Coke. If diet sodas work then why have I never seen anyone with less than 20% body fat drinking one. The reason people that drank regular Coke don't lose weight when they switch to Diet Coke is because their body needs natural sugar. They make up for that loss of sugar in their diet by eating solid foods that contain that sugar instead. So instead of a regular Coke they have a Diet Coke and a honey bun. Don't get me started.

Is tap water ok or should I drink bottled water?

I'm a huge proponent of clean water. There's some really jacked up stuff in lots of tap water. We have a water well with excellent water quality right out of the ground, but I still run it through a Berkey water filter (which I highly recommend) and then sometimes I'll even run that water through a Mavea filter. Told you I take clean water seriously.

How do I maintain the new weight after trying this plan? Will I just gain it back like I have with diets that I've been on in the past?

Once you close in on your target weight, you can begin to eat a bit more in order to level off at your desired weight. After that, you'll know exactly how much you can eat on a daily basis to maintain your new weight.

How does Keto, South Beach, Mediterranean, etc. fit with the Fat Math Formula?

We've had several dieters (especially those on Keto) that have complained of plateauing at a particular weight for long periods. Any dietary restrictions can be incorporated into the Fat Math Formula. So, if you're on a Keto, South Beach, Mediterranean, etc., etc. diet, you can still eat those particular foods. You'll just have a better idea of how much of them you can eat and still lose weight.

What foods should I focus on eating?

Whatever your body tells you it needs. I would avoid high sugar (especially refined sugar) foods, due to the insulin spikes and energy crashes associated with them. Healthy fats are great for staying satiated and they're very good for your health. I like avocados, cheese, all meat, bananas, whole milk (skim milk is worthless), broccoli, potatoes, etc. Never met a carb that I didn't like either : )

Which brand of vitamins, minerals and electrolytes do you recommend?

I like Bluebonnet vitamins and Hi-Lyte electrolytes.

What does your daily routine look like?

A perfect day would be to wake up at 7:00 to a nice cup of coffee. I'd typically have two cups in the morning and then another around 11:00. I would do some sort of exercise for at least 30 minutes around 9:00. Maybe a brisk walk in the hills, jump on the exercise bike or rowing machine. Take my vitamins. Work till 5:00 and eat dinner around 7:00.

Preferably no meals during the day. If I feel like I need to eat something, I'll have something around 2:00. Maybe some popcorn, some Goldfish, chips, crackers or cheese. Something 4 ounces or less along with a glass of water (including electrolytes of course). I've been working up to 20+ hour daily fast and have been really impressed with the mental clarity and steady energy level that it offers. I feel more focussed at work and don't start to drag towards the end of the day. Only eating one large meal per day gives me a lot of flexibility with how much I can eat for dinner, while still staying within my daily Fat Math Formula range.
